Instructions
Prepare the Cabbage
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Remove the core from the cabbage and carefully lower the whole head into the boiling water. Cook for 2–3 minutes, then gently separate the softened leaves and set them aside to cool.
Make the Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork (if using), cooked rice, diced onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
Roll the Cabbage
Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold the sides inward, then roll the leaf tightly around the filling, enclosing the ends as you go.
Prepare the Sauce
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the tomato sauce and beef broth, stirring until well combined. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Cook the Cabbage Rolls
Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the simmering sauce. Cover the pot and cook over low heat for 45–60 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is fully cooked.
Serve
Transfer the cabbage rolls to serving plates and spoon plenty of the tomato sauce over the top. Serve warm and enjoy.
