5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Sweet Pea Macaroni

This 5-ingredient slow cooker sweet pea macaroni is a simple, cozy dish that’s perfect for hectic days. As it cooks, the pasta naturally releases starch, which combines with the butter and water to form a smooth, glossy sauce—no extra steps required. Adding the peas near the end keeps them vibrant, tender, and slightly sweet, balancing the richness of the pasta.
5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Sweet Pea Macaroni
Ingredients:
- 12 oz dry elbow macaroni
- 3½ cups hot water
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1½ cups frozen sweet peas
- 1 tsp salt (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Build the Base
Lightly grease the slow cooker. Add the dry macaroni, hot water, and salt. Stir so the pasta is evenly distributed and coated.
Step 2: Add Butter
Place the butter pieces evenly over the top without stirring. This allows it to melt gradually and coat the pasta as it cooks.
Step 3: First Cook Cycle
Cover and cook on HIGH for 45 minutes. Stir well afterward, making sure nothing is sticking to the sides or bottom.
Step 4: Add Peas
Stir in the frozen peas and gently press them into the hot mixture. If it seems too thick, add a small splash of hot water.
Step 5: Finish Cooking
Cover again and cook on HIGH for another 20–30 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the pasta is tender and the peas are heated through.
Step 6: Rest and Serve
Switch to WARM, stir once more, and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
