My mother clipped this from a magazine in 1965 and never stopped making it. Still the first thing requested at family reunions.

Oven Baked 3-Ingredient Chicken Imperial

Tender chicken breasts are topped with creamy condensed chicken soup and finished with buttery breadcrumbs for a golden, crunchy crust. Baked uncovered, this simple comfort-food dinner comes out juicy and flavorful with a crisp topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or tenders
  • 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
  • 2 cups fine dry breadcrumbs mixed with 1/2 cup melted butter

Directions

  1. Prepare the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch ceramic casserole dish.
  2. Arrange the chicken: Place the chicken pieces in a single layer inside the prepared dish. Cut any especially thick pieces into smaller portions to help them cook evenly.
  3. Add the creamy layer: Spread the undiluted cream of chicken soup evenly over the chicken, covering the pieces as completely as possible.
  4. Add the breadcrumb topping: Sprinkle the buttered breadcrumbs evenly over the soup layer, making sure the entire surface is covered.
  5. Bake: Place the dish in the oven uncovered and bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the breadcrumb topping is crisp and golden brown.
  6. Rest and serve: Allow the casserole to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
