My father-in-law clipped this from a magazine in 1965 and it appeared at every football Sunday for 40 years. Still the appetizer that causes friendly arguments over the last piece

These Oven-Baked 4-Ingredient Golden Crunchy Cheese Cups are an easy, bite-sized appetizer made with ridged potato chips, melted cheddar, bacon, and green onions.
Each chip is tucked into a mini muffin cup, filled with cheese and toppings, then baked until the cheddar is hot and bubbly and the chips turn extra crisp around the edges. They’re quick, crunchy, and packed with loaded-potato flavor.
Oven-Baked 4-Ingredient Golden Crunchy Cheese Cups
Ingredients
- 24 ridged potato chips
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons cooked bacon, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
Directions
1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a 24-cup mini muffin tin, or use two 12-cup mini muffin pans.
2. Shape the chip cups
Place one ridged potato chip into each muffin cup.
Press each chip down gently so it sits securely and forms a shallow cup without breaking.
3. Add the filling
Place a generous pinch of shredded cheddar cheese into each chip.
Top with a small amount of crumbled bacon and sliced green onions.
4. Bake
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbling.
The edges of the potato chips should become deeply golden and crisp.
5. Cool and serve
Let the cheese cups rest in the pan for 2 to 3 minutes so they can set slightly.
Carefully lift them from the muffin tin and serve warm.
Crunchy, cheesy, and filled with bacon flavor, these simple four-ingredient bites make an easy appetizer for parties, game days, or casual gatherings.
