My uncle used to make this rich savory bake every Sunday and I finally stole his secret. Takes just 4 ingredients for absolute perfection and the crunch is unreal.

4-Ingredient French Onion Chicken
Turn ordinary chicken breasts into a comforting, flavor-packed dinner with just four ingredients. This easy oven-baked recipe combines tender chicken, rich condensed French onion soup, gooey provolone cheese, and crispy fried onions for a delicious meal with minimal prep.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 pounds)
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed French onion soup
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish.
2. Prepare the chicken.
Pat the chicken breasts dry and arrange them in a single layer in the prepared dish. If needed, gently pound thicker portions so the chicken cooks evenly.
3. Add the soup.
Pour the condensed French onion soup over the chicken, making sure each piece is coated and some soup settles beneath the meat.
4. Bake covered.
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 20–25 minutes, until the sauce is bubbling and the chicken is nearly cooked through.
5. Add the toppings.
Carefully remove the foil. Place two slices of provolone cheese over each chicken breast, then sprinkle the crispy fried onions evenly over the top.
6. Finish baking.
Return the dish to the oven uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, the onions are golden, and the thickest part of each chicken breast reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). For an extra-crispy topping, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.
7. Rest and serve.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Spoon the savory onion sauce from the baking dish over each portion for even more flavor.
Enjoy this cheesy, golden-topped French onion chicken with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or steamed rice for a simple and satisfying weeknight meal.
