Open-Faced Turkey Sandwich (4 Ingredients)

This simple sandwich is the definition of classic comfort food—an easy, cozy meal that feels more special than the effort it takes to make. Using leftover turkey and warm gravy, it comes together quickly but tastes like something you’d get at a small-town diner. Rich, hearty, and ready in about 15 minutes, it’s the kind of dish that can brighten even the gloomiest day.

Serving Notes:
Serve it hot with plenty of gravy poured over the top. Balance the richness with lighter sides like steamed green beans, baby carrots, or a crisp salad. For a more filling meal, add mashed potatoes or buttery green beans. A glass of iced tea or lemonade makes a perfect finishing touch for that classic diner-style feel.

Open-Faced Turkey Sandwich (4 Ingredients)

Ingredients

  • 4 slices soft white sandwich bread
  • 8 oz cooked sliced turkey (roasted or deli-style)
  • 2 cups brown gravy (homemade or prepared)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions

Heat the gravy
Warm the gravy in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until hot but not boiling.

Prepare the bread
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.

Toast the bread
Place the bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat and cook until golden and lightly crisp, about 2–3 minutes. Remove and place on plates with the toasted side facing up.

Warm the turkey
Using the same skillet, gently heat the turkey slices for 1–2 minutes per side until warmed through.

Assemble the sandwich
Lay the warm turkey over each slice of toasted bread, covering it evenly.

Add the gravy
Spoon the hot gravy generously over the top, allowing some to soak into the bread while leaving a bit of texture.

Serve immediately
Enjoy right away, with extra gravy on the side if you like.
