Instructions

1. Prepare the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter or grease a baking dish.

2. Season the apples
Place the sliced apples into a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a small amount of brown sugar, then toss until every slice is evenly coated.

3. Make the crumble topping
In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Work the cold butter into the mixture using your fingertips or a pastry cutter until coarse, crumbly pieces form.

4. Assemble the dessert
Arrange the seasoned apples in an even layer in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top, covering the fruit completely.

5. Bake
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crisp while the apples are soft and bubbling around the edges.

6. Serve
Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy it warm with vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of whipped cream for an extra indulgent finish.
