Southern 4-Ingredient Honey Butter Skillet Corn

Southern 4-Ingredient Honey Butter Skillet Corn
This simple skillet corn is one of those side dishes that quietly takes over the table. Inspired by classic Southern-style sweet corn, it turns a handful of basic ingredients into something rich, glossy, and deeply comforting. Butter, honey, and cream melt together over sweet corn kernels, creating a silky glaze with just enough caramelized edges to keep every bite interesting.
It’s fast enough for busy weeknights, but flavorful enough to serve at holiday dinners or Sunday meals. No matter what it’s paired with, it tends to disappear first.
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Frozen corn kernels | 3 cups | No need to thaw |
| Unsalted butter | 4 tbsp | |
| Honey | 3 tbsp | |
| Heavy cream | 1/2 cup |
Directions
Step 1: Melt the Butter
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt completely, coating the surface.
Step 2: Warm the Corn
Add the frozen corn directly to the skillet. Stir well and cook for 5–7 minutes until the kernels are heated through and begin to pick up light golden color.
Step 3: Add Honey
Drizzle in the honey and stir until the corn is evenly coated. Continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes so the mixture becomes glossy and slightly caramelized.
Step 4: Stir in Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and reduce heat slightly. Stir frequently and simmer for 4–6 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the corn.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
Remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes to allow the sauce to set slightly. Serve warm directly from the skillet.
