Ingredients

IngredientAmount
Ground beef1 lb (450 g)
Potatoes, peeled and finely diced2 medium
Small onion, finely chopped1
Garlic cloves, minced2
Paprika1 teaspoon
Black pepper1/2 teaspoon
Salt1 teaspoon
Dried oregano1/2 teaspoon
Olive oil1 tablespoon
Shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese1 cup (100 g)
Pizza or bread dough1 large
Melted butter1 tablespoon
Egg1
Optional sesame seeds or herbsFor topping

Instructions

1. Cook the onion and garlic

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.

2. Prepare the filling

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Stir in the diced potatoes, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper.

Cover and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes become tender. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly.

3. Mix in the cheese

Once the filling has cooled a bit, stir in the shredded cheese. Mixing the cheese in after cooling slightly helps keep the filling creamy and prevents the cheese from melting too early.

4. Assemble the roll

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll the dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.

Spread the beef and potato filling evenly across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

5. Roll and seal

Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Pinch the edges and seam closed to keep the filling secure.

Place the roll seam-side down on a lined baking tray.

6. Bake until golden

Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the dough. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds or herbs if desired.

Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the roll is golden brown and baked through.

7. Cool and serve

Let the stuffed roll rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm while the cheese is soft and melty inside.
