Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into cubes
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup water
Instructions
1. Prepare the oven and baking dish.
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Lightly grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish and arrange the beef cubes in an even layer.
2. Mix the gravy.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown gravy mix, dry onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, and water. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
3. Cover the beef with sauce.
Pour the gravy mixture over the beef cubes, making sure the pieces are well coated and distributed throughout the dish.
4. Bake until tender.
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender and the gravy is rich and bubbling. If desired, carefully stir the mixture halfway through cooking to distribute the sauce evenly.
5. Rest before serving.
Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Give the beef and gravy a gentle stir before serving.
6. Serve and enjoy.
Spoon the tender beef and generous amounts of gravy over mashed potatoes, buttered egg noodles, or rice. Pair it with green beans, peas, glazed carrots, or a fresh salad for a satisfying home-cooked dinner.
